I've been keeping some Datura's growing for the last few years in containers. Mine are the one's referred to as "Ballerina" because of their lovely purple and white ruffles. This year will be the first year I try some "in ground". I will however make sure to keep at least a couple going in pots... just in case that doesn't work out.
I've given out seeds and seedlings to one of my aunts. When one doesn't make it, she calls me up asking for "another one of those dancer plants".
Gotta love her... mid-90s and still going pretty strong.
